We are redesigning our SCBWI-AR website and social media pages! One grand prize winner will have their illustration selected as our new banner and receive free admission to our SCBWI-AR 2020 conference, as well as have their artwork featured on our conference brochure and merchandise. Finalists will have their art featured on our website.
GUIDELINES and RULES:
Requirements: You must be a current SCBWI member living in Arkansas in order to enter.
Entries: No more than three (3) entries per illustrator.
Theme: “Navigation,” or “Navigating our Natural State with Art and Story.” Use your imagination to create an image that exemplifies both SCBWI and our Arkansas region while incorporating the theme idea.
Text: Please leave space for the text “SCBWI Arkansas.”
If you are a designer, feel free to include typography in your submission, but please put the type on a separate layer or be prepared to supply an illustration without text as well.
Color or Black & White: We welcome full color or black and white submissions.
Layout and Format: Illustrations must be submitted in digital format, but can be created traditionally or digitally. Do not sign or watermark your image. The contest is anonymous.
- The final image size is 1640 pixels wide x 856 pixels high (1.91:1 ratio); approx. 5.5 x 3 inch. Your illustration may be larger, but will need to proportionally fit when reduced.
- Please note that the image MUST BE HORIZONTAL. The final file should be jpg or pdf format at 300 dpi resolution at the 1640 x 856 pixel size.

no later than September 30, 2019.
- Include your name and contact information in the email, but do not place your name on the attachment, as it will be forwarded anonymously to the judging committee.
- All submissions should say “SCBWI-AR Illustration Contest” in the subject line.
Prize: The winner will receive one free admission to the 2020 SCBWI-AR Conference! The winning illustration will be announced at our November 2019 event in Fayetteville.
NOTE: By submitting an illustration for this competition you are granting usage rights to Arkansas SCBWI to use your illustration in promoting SCBWI-AR, including but not limited to Facebook/Twitter/Instagram, blog, website, postcards, mailers, and related conference materials.
Please do not submit an illustration that is already under contract or whose usage rights are already held by a third party.
